with the recent introduction of Open Source UNIX (Linux/BSD) implementations, you as a consumer of IT technology now have many more choices when choosing a UNIX platform to run your application or database. If you are interested in using commodity Intel based hardware, an Open Source operating system may fit your requirements.</font></p>

For server applications we recommend LINUX or one of the BSD implementations (FreeBSD, OpenBSD or NetBSD). Linux is also an excellent choice if you are interested in a more Graphic-oriented platform. Many of our customers choose Linux for Desktops and a BSD 
implementation for their servers. Open Source UNIX also has the advantage of being nearly free. We can help you download any of these free Operating Systems from the Internet, or purchase a disk (for under $100.00) which usually includes an excellent manual (some commercial releases of Linux can cost a bit more).
